Hello and welcome,
My name is Leah Reisert. I am a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW). I received my undergraduate degree in psychology at Adephi University’s Derner Institute for Advanced Psychological studies and my Masters in Social Work at Adelphi University’s School of Social Work.
I have provided therapeutic services to a wide range of populations of all ages in both group and individual therapy settings. I have experience treating individuals with severe and persistent mental illness (i.e., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder), trauma and stress related disorders (i.e., acute stress disorder, PTSD, adjustment disorders), anxiety and depressive disorders, and substance use disorders. I currently work as a social worker in an inpatient psych unit where I work with individuals with an array of diagnoses, often in crisis, and in need of acute psychiatric support.
My therapeutic approach integrates psychodynamic theory with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness skill building. Together we will identify your goals in treatment and work at your own pace towards achieving such goals. My goal for you is to become your own therapist at the end of our work together in that you will better understand yourself and know the skills you need to meet and succeed at each situation that life throws at you.
You have taken a courageous step towards exploring ways to improve your life by researching Smithtown Therapy and the services we provide. It is my hope that I can walk this courageous walk with you.
Leah Reisert, LMSW
