I am a licensed social worker (LMSW) with a master’s degree from the Stony Brook School of Social Welfare, and I have worked in behavioral health for a decade in a variety of roles and settings. My current roles are as a counselor for mental health at Smithtown Therapy and Community Integration Counselor/Positive Behavior Intervention Specialist for people with traumatic brain injuries/disabilities. I am very passionate about serving the community and improving clients’ well-being amid the variety of challenges, both internal and external, that many people face. My therapeutic philosophy is informed by person-centeredness, a strengths-based approach, and the indispensable conditions of a safe, non-judgmental forum, therapeutic alliance and authentic rapport– relationships in and out of session have healing properties of their own. I adapt to clients’ individual needs, while believing adamantly that they bring to each session a surplus of unique knowledge and experience that acts a roadmap to recovery and deeper self-knowledge. In addition to person-centered therapy, I use techniques, as appropriate, from a range of modalities: cognitive behavioral therapy; solution-focused brief therapy; motivational interviewing; mindfulness; and psychoeducation. I offer both in-person sessions and telehealth.
