My name is Angelina Bellavia and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. Johns University in addition to my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Dowling College. I have a deep passion for helping people through the emotional impacts of their significant life changes.
Throughout my successful five-year career in psychotherapy, I have worked with a myriad of clients including: children, adults, couples and families of various cultures and communities. My specialty lies in treatment of anxiety, depression, and behavioral issues; as well as, substance abuse, trauma, anger, transitional issues, communication, ADHD/ADD, bipolar disorder, adjustment, and many other co-occurring mental health issues.
My treatment modalities are specifically tailored to each individual client utilizing unique therapy strategies such as cognitive behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy, and person centered techniques. Creating a safe space for my clients is of utmost importance as well as a major key to establishing a positive therapeutic alliance. My approach is both personable and empathetic as I am known to be a supportive, caring, and a compassionate therapist.
